Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magazine system which stores and processes a DLT cartridge system or LTO cartridge system. SOLUTION: The cartridge magazine system 300 comprises a sleeve 306, a pivoted member 402 which prevents a full insertion of the cartridge system into the sleeve 306 when the cartridge system is inserted not in a correct orientation, and a flag positioner 418. The flag 312 is designed to be located at a first position if the sleeve 306 does not contain a fully inserted cartridge system, a second position if the sleeve 306 contains a fully inserted first type of linear tape cartridge system, and a third position if the sleeve 306 contains a fully inserted second type of linear tape cartridge system.
