Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable automatic registration processing which is efficient and is reduced in usage of the resource of ink and a record medium as well, while reducing influence due to disturbance. SOLUTION: It is judged whether or not respective adjustment patterns are influenced by the disturbance, from the data of the optical characteristics of the respective adjustment patterns. When the influence of the disturbance is small and it is judged that there is reliability, an adjustment value is calculated by using data where the deviation of the relative recording positions of first and second adjustment pattern elements is minimum and the data of the optical characteristics in the vicinity of this data. On the other hand, when the influence of the disturbance is great, a relative deviation amount range is made larger than that when the disturbance is small and the adjustment value is obtained by using the data of a large number of optical characteristics.
