Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably improve water resistance of a clay oriented film. SOLUTION: The composite clay film is composed of a clay oriented film in which clay is deposited in layer and a polymer compound uniformly distributed in the oriented film wherein the polymer compound is a cross-linked body of a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer. When the increase rate (%) of mass after the composite clay film is dipped in boiling water for 30 min is determined by a relation; the increase rate (%)=[(mass after dipping)-(mass before dipping)]/[(mass before dipping)]×100, the increase rate is ≤100% and the wet tensile strength after dipped in water for 24 hours is ≥3 MPa.
