Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetizer (10) for a rotor (12) of an electrical machine. SOLUTION: The magnetizer includes a magnetizing yoke (16) and coils (18, 20, 22, 24) wound around the magnetizing yoke. The magnetizing yoke includes multiple pole pieces (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48) extending therefrom, and at least some of the pole pieces include a cobalt alloy. In another embodiment, a method of magnetizing the rotor of the electrical machine is provided. The method includes a step of assembling a plurality of magnets around a rotator spindle, and a step of positioning the magnetizer circumferentially around the plurality of magnets.
