Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile communication system which is capable of improving the search efficiency by reducing the processing load required for searching for a base station. SOLUTION: A mobile station M informs a base station A of identification information of base stations detected by search as a search list (sequence S2), and the base station A informs the mobile station M of base stations not corresponding to prestored peripheral base stations and base stations corresponding an unavailability list, out of base stations in the informed search list as an NG list (sequence S4). On the occurrence of the need for handover, the mobile station M informed of the NG list performs handover to a base station (for example, a base station B) out of base stations in the search list except base stations included in the NG list (sequence S14).
