Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of capable of preventing erroneous commercial goods data from being displayed on an electronic shelf tag. SOLUTION: The electronic shelf tag is provided with a secondary decoding section 790, to which encoded data as encoded commercial goods data is inputted, for decoding the encoded data, and a display for displaying goods data obtained by decoding the encoded data by the secondary decoding section 790. The secondary decoding section 790 is provided with a syndrome calculating section 791 for calculating a syndrome of the encoded data, an error correcting section 792 for subjecting the encoded data to error correction based on an error position in the encoded data specified by the syndrome obtained by the syndrome calculating section 791, and a syndrome recalculating section 793 for calculating the syndrome of the encoded data corrected by the error correcting section 792.
