Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which simultaneously detects the thickness and ink content of a paper sheet with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A sensor part 100 of a paper sheet discrimination device 10 includes: a variable inductance part 110 where the inductance varies depending on the thickness and ink content of the paper sheet; and an output signal generation part 120 for generating an output signal depending on the inductance of the variable inductance part 110. The variable inductance part 110 has a contact terminal 112 having a magnetostrictive property and a coil 113 provided on an outer periphery of the contact terminal 112. The contact terminal 112 is disposed so as to receive a pressing force from a spring 632 through an auxiliary roller 630. When the pressing force received from the spring 632 is changed in accordance with a thickness t of a bank note BL, permeability of the contact terminal 112 is changed, resulting in a change in inductance of the variable inductance part 110. Simultaneously, the inductance of the variable inductance part 110 is also changed by the magnetic charge of magnetic ink of the bank note BL. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
