Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing metal powders and/or alloy powders containing at least one of the metals iron, copper, tin, cobalt or nickel which are suitable for the production of sintered hard alloy or diamond-containing alloy. SOLUTION: In the method for producing metal powers and/or alloy powders containing at least one of the metals iron, copper, tin, cobalt or nickel by mixing an aqueous metal salt solution with an aqueous carboxylic acid solution, separating the precipitation product from the mother liquor and reducing the precipitation product to metal, carboxylic acid with a saturated concentration of at least 10% is made present in the aqueous solution after the completion of the precipitation.
