Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power generation system capable of efficiently performing electric power generation when electric power is generated by rotating a rotor of a generator by fluid energy. SOLUTION: The electric power generation system is provided with an impeller 23 rotated by working fluid of a lift cylinder 12, a rotating speed sensor 30 for detecting the rotating speed of the impeller 23, the generator 25 for converting the rotating force of the impeller 23 to electric power, and an electric power generation control part 27 for switching start/stop of electric power generation of the generator 25. The electric power generation control part 27 calculates, based on the state of the working fluid, predetermined rotating speed at which the amount of electric power generation when electric power generation is started by the generator 25 after the rotating speed of the impeller 23 reaches predetermined one becomes larger than the amount of electric power generation when electric power generation is started by the generator 25 after rotation of the impeller 23 is started. The electric power generation control part 27 controls the generator 25 so as to start electric power generation when the rotating speed of the impeller 23 exceeds the predetermined one.
