Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell suppressing the deterioration of an electrolyte membrane caused by an eluted substance from a gas leak suppressing member. SOLUTION: The fuel cell has a membrane-electrode assembly having a pair of catalyst layers between which the electrolyte membrane is interposed and a pair of diffusion layers between which the catalyst layer is interposed; a pair of frames arranged through the membrane-electrode assembly; a pair of separators for the fuel cell arranged at both outsides of the frame; and the gas leak suppressing member suppressing gas leak between adjoined members, and moreover has an eluted-substance attaching-suppressing member suppressing the attachment of the eluted substance from the gas leak suppressing member to the electrolyte membrane by water produced in the power generation of the fuel cell between the gas leak suppressing member and the electrolyte membrane.
