Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent fixing property of toner on a fixing medium by using a fixing member coated with oil in an image forming method using an electrophotographic process. SOLUTION: An image forming method includes at least: a charging process of charging the surface of an electrostatic latent image carrier; an exposure process of exposing the surface of the charged electrostatic latent image carrier to form an electrostatic latent image; a developing process of developing the electrostatic latent image by use of toner to form a visible image; a transfer process of transferring the visible image onto a recording medium; a fixing process of fixing the transferred image transferred onto the recording medium; and an oil application process of applying oil onto the fixing member used in the fixing process. The toner contains at least a binder resin, a colorant and wax, wherein the binder resin contains a polar group-containing cyclic rubber. A pellet of the toner, which is prepared by compacting 2 g of the above toner into a cylindrical form of 40 mm diameter and 2 mm thickness under 100 kg cm-2pressure, heating the compacted material on a hot plate at 180°C for 5 minutes in an environment at 23°C and 55% relative humidity and cooling, is left to stand with the flat faces in upper and lower sides, onto which 9 mg of oil is dropped from 1 cm height above the pellet. At that point in time, a change amount with lapse of time expressed by expression (1): the change amount (%)=(A2/A1)×100, which indicates a spreading degree of the oil on the pellet, is less than 150%. In the expression, A2 represents a spread area of the oil after 24 hours and A1 represents the initial spread area of the oil. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
