Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor controller stably operating even for a ratio of moment of inertia as large as dozens of times or more without inputting a control parameter selection signal, moment of inertia of a load and a target response frequency, and to provide a control method thereof. SOLUTION: The motor controller includes: a position control section (1); a speed control section (3) for generating a first torque command from a speed command, a speed signal and a set moment of inertia of a load; a motor driving section (4) for driving a motor on the basis of the torque command; a position signal generating section (5) for generating a position signal from a position detecting signal of a position detector; a speed signal generating section (6) for generating a speed signal from the position signal; an inertia variation suppressing section (7) for generating a correction torque command from the speed signal and the torque command, adding the generated correction torque command to a first torque command and generating the torque command; a phase compensating section (3) for compensating the phase of the first torque command to generate a new first torque command; a vibration detecting section (8) for detecting vibration from the torque command and the speed signal and generating a vibration signal; a moment of inertia setting section (9) for setting the moment of inertia of a load at constant times the motor inertia moment in response to the vibration signal.
