Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image output apparatus which, when converting color image data into black and white image data and outputting the black and white image data, causes a user to confirm the black and white image data then outputs the black and white image data, thereby preventing useless data output. SOLUTION: The image output apparatus is applied to a facsimile composite machine 1 in which the color image data read from a storage device 19 is input to an image converting part 18 and converted into the black and white image data, and the black and white image data is displayed in a displaying part 13. The user looks at the displaying part 13 to judge whether to output the black and white image data. When the user presses an "OK" button down, the black and white image data is printed by a printer 14 or transmitted by facsimile. When the user presses a "modification" button down, a conversion method in the image converting part 18 is changed, and the read color image data is newly converted into the black and white image data by the image converting part 18 and is displayed.
