Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To align the optical axis of an optical waveguide part with the optical axis of an optical element without requiring high accuracy for outside dimension of a retaining part. SOLUTION: This optical connector includes: the optical waveguide retaining member comprising an optical waveguide part for propagating light and an optical waveguide retaining part which retains the optical waveguide part on the inside of edge surface of the retaining part and forms a rugged shape formed by the edge surface of waveguide of the optical waveguide part and the edge surface of the retaining part; and an optical device comprising an optical element which receives or emits light and a light transmission part for transmitting light, which is located between the optical waveguide part and the optical element, and includes an area at a prescribed position with respect to the optical axis of the optical element, wherein the edge surface of the retaining part comes in contact with a part of the light transmission part and thereby, the optical axis of the optical waveguide part is aligned with the optical axis of the optical element.
