Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate discrimination and collection of even a component falling at a location other than a substrate positioning section according to its size. SOLUTION: In a component mounting apparatus, a transportation device 32 having a substrate positioning section for positioning a substrate for a component to be mounted thereon is disposed on a base frame 30, and a plurality of rows of feeders 14 for supplying components to be mounted on the substrate positioned in the substrate positioning section to predetermined pickup positions 14A are mounted. The component mounting apparatus also includes: a duct 36 having an opening which is formed in the upper surface of the base frame between nearly one side end of the transportation apparatus and a corresponding end of the apparatus main body and which includes at least the array range of the pickup positions 14A; component discriminating plates 38 which are disposed to be slanted in such a direction as to block falling of a component in a lower side of the opening of the duct and which has a plurality of through holes of a predetermined size formed therein; and a component collector 40 having a plurality of spaces partitioned by partition plates 40A one ends of which are coincided with one ends of the component discriminating plates.
