Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil capable of easily securing a core cross-sectional area to be required by evading the increase of the diameters of primary and secondary coils when a square ring-shape closed magnetic path core is formed. SOLUTION: The ignition coil 1 includes: the primary coil 21; the secondary coils 22; and the closed magnetic path core 4. The closed magnetic path core 4 has a square ring shape composed of a core center part 41, a core outer peripheral part 42, and a pair of relay parts 43. The closed magnetic path core 4 is formed by connecting two core members 4A, B which are formed by laminating a plurality of electrical steel sheets 40. The core gap 44, where a permanent magnet 441 is arranged, and a joint part 45 are formed in two connection parts 411, 421 of the two core members 4A, B. The core center part 41 has a substantially circular cross section by differing the widths of the plurality of electrical steel sheets 40. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
