Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize camera shake correction processing according to how a shutter button is pressed. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises a shutter button utilizing a multi-contact switch and a multi-stage switch, detects how the shutter button is pressed to estimate the direction and the amount of camera shake, and varies camera shake correction processing in accordance with a result of the estimation. For example, the imaging apparatus adopts additive camera shake correction in which a plurality of divided exposure images are consecutively photographed, the divided exposure images are aligned, added and combined to obtain one image in which camera shake is reduced. In such a case, if the estimated amount of camera shake is great, the number of exposure divisions is increased and a divided exposure time is made relatively short, such that the amount of camera shake per image is preferentially reduced. If the estimated amount of camera shake is small, on the other hand, the number of exposure divisions is decreased and the divided exposure time is made relatively long, such as luminance of each divided exposure image is preferentially increased.
