Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of restraining reduction of fuel cell performance caused by generated radicals and improving a sustainable period of its effects. SOLUTION: In the fuel cell including a fuel cell assembly where catalyst layers are formed to oppose with each other by holding an electrolyte membrane, at least one of the catalyst layers includes a decomposition catalyst containing a catalyst layer including a radical decomposition catalyst, and degradation of the fuel cell performance caused by the generated radicals is restrained as the radical decomposition catalyst is included so as to lessen an ionic inclination of the radical decomposition catalyst from the electrolyte membrane side to the surface side of the decomposition catalyst containing catalyst layer. Thus, a sustainable period of the effect can be improved, and the fuel cell with high efficiency can be obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
