Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine which detects the class of a facsimile calling signal (CI signal, 1300 Hz signal or the like) and automatically sets call terminating operation in accordance with a detection result. SOLUTION: A facsimile machine 13 deals with a plurality of calling signals (CI signal, 1300 Hz signal or the like) of different classes and terminates any one of the plurality of calling signals. Furthermore, the facsimile machine 13 comprises: a 1300 Hz detection unit 137 for detecting a 1300 Hz signal from a line 12; a CI detection unit 138 for detecting a CI signal from the line 12; and a control unit 139 which sets call terminating operation in accordance with the class (1300 Hz, CI signal) of a calling signal detected by the 1300 Hz detection unit 137 or the CI detection unit 138.
