Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a continuously variable transmission capable of preventing the drive force of a power source from being shortened due to the lowering of the rotational speed of the power source on an uphill road. SOLUTION: This electronic controller counts up (step S2) when determining a vehicle travels on a flat surface (NO in step S1). When it determines that a counter value is larger than a threshold (YES in step S8), a gear ratio is reduced (step S9) by reducing the target rotational speed of a primary pulley. When it determines that the vehicle travels on an uphill road (YES in step S1), a countdown is not performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
