Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear capable of preventing deterioration of combustion under a low speed light load condition by making phase change of intake valve open timing during control from a large valve lift area to a small valve lift area. SOLUTION: An intake valve 2 is opened and closed by oscillating an oscillating cam 7 with converting rotary force of a drive cam 4 to oscillating motion, and valve lift quantity is variably controlled by changing an oscillation fulcrum position of a rocker arm via a support arm 11 by rotation control of a control shaft 20. A base end part of the support arm is rotatably fitted on an outer circumference surface of an eccentric cam ring 14, and a rotary center Z is set at a position biased from an axial center X of a drive shaft by α quantity to keep rotation locus Q of the support arm at an outside of Q1 when a rotation center is set on the drive shaft at least in a small valve lift control area of the intake valve.
