Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for an underground structure for providing and extending a rectangular caisson body sequentially in a starting pit to excavate the ground and enabling the construction of the caisson body having large cross section in even a narrow vertical shaft by using divided segments and preventing the segment itself from being damaged even when receiving impulsive force of a jack. SOLUTION: In this construction method, a rectangular segment ring is formed by combining segment pieces being like a flat plate, having a flat plate L shape, and being a rectangular highly rigid type composite segment constituted by filling the inside blocked by a natural ground side skin plate, a hollow inside side skin plate, and a side plate with concrete, and the rectangular segment rings are sequentially connected in the direction of length to form the rectangular caisson body 19.
