PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersant giving a coating liquid for a color filter capable of preventing increasing in viscosity and lowering of storage stability even in case that the concentration of the pigment is high, and capable of manufacturing the color filter having excellent transparency and color quality. SOLUTION: This dispersant for an organic pigment comprises compounds represented by general formula (1) or (2) (wherein RDrepresents an aromatic ring or an aromatic hetero-ring having at least one selected from the group consisting of 1-3 sulfonate groups, their metal salts, their ammonia salts, a salt of an organic amine, a salt of an organic quaternary ammonium compound; substituent groups X and Y may be the same or different and represent a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a nitro group, an alkyl group, an alkoxyl group, a non-substituted or substituted phthalimide methyl group; R represents a hydrogen atom or a 1-12C alkyl group; and m and n are each an integer of 0-3).
