PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide equipment and a method for forming a pattern which enable the formation of a high-accuracy pattern with a high quality. SOLUTION: The equipment for forming the pattern has a letterpress 1 having pattern-like numerous projections 21 on the surface. The fore ends of the projections 21 of the letterpress 1 have pattern-like toner sticking faces 22 respectively. The pattern is developed by making charged toner particles 43 stick to the toner sticking faces 22. The letterpress 1 and a glass plate 5 are made to approach each other so that a vacant space S is formed between the surface Ls of a transfer liquid L applied on the surface of the glass plate 5 and the valley part 23 of the letterpress 1, and the toner particles 43 are transferred onto the glass plate 5 by making an electric field act on them. On the occasion of detaching the letterpress 1 from the glass plate 5, air is made to escape through the vacant space S to remove a negative pressure, so that the disturbance of the transferred toner particles 43 is prevented.
