Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manually operated food processing device which operates with a rotary action. SOLUTION: The food processing device e.g. salad spinner 10 has a housing 100 with a lid 110, a basket 200 supported in the housing 100 for rotation, and a drive mechanism 300 supported by the lid 110 for rotating the basket 200 to spin off water from salad in the housing 100. The drive mechanism 300 has a crank handle 310 and a drive transmission system provided between the handle and the basket to transmit rotational drive from the handle to rotate the basket. The drive transmission system has a first rotary gear 320 arranged to receive the driving force from the handle and a second rotary gear 330 in driving engagement with the first rotary gear. The first and second gears have corresponding serial formations e.g. recesses and protrusions, of respective circular cross-sections that are inter-engageable one in the other for drive transmission.
