Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in electrical characteristics. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor has at least a photosensitive layer on a conductive substrate, wherein a binder resin in the photosensitive layer is a polycarbonate copolymer containing ≤20 ppm of nitrogen incorporated into a molecular chain and obtained by reacting at least two aromatic diols selected from the aromatic diols represented by general formula (3) with a carbonate forming compound and monophenols, and polycondensing the resultant carbonate oligomer having a terminal chloroformate group to OH group concentration ratio of 1.1-10 at ≤15°C in the presence of a condensation catalyst.
