Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suck ink uniformly and surely from each ejection port even in a case of a wide recording head having a large number of ejection ports, and to fill a channel with ink properly while reducing waste of ink incident to suction. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a channel branched into a plurality of branch channels between an ink storage section and an ink ejecting section, a plurality of ejection port groups corresponding to the plurality of branch channels, respectively, a plurality of caps covering the plurality of branch channels individually, and a suction means for making a negative pressure act on the ejection port through the cap in order to fill the ink ejecting section and the channel with ink. The suction means is connected with the plurality of caps to perform suction individually. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
