Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for melting a cold-iron source in a metal mixer with a channel-type induction heating apparatus with which the charged cold-iron source can efficiently be carburize-melted by efficiently stirring molten iron in the metal mixer. SOLUTION: In the method for melting the cold-iron source in the metal mixer 13, with which the molten iron 11 is held in the inner part of the cylindrical type furnace body 10 horizontally disposed and when the molten iron 11 is discharged, the molten iron 11 in the inner part is discharged to out of the furnace by rotating the furnace body 10 and further, the channel-type induction heating apparatus 12 for holding and raising the temperature of the molten iron 11 is provided at the lower part excepting just below the furnace body 10 and the cold-iron source is charged and melted; the furnace body 10 has the diameter of 3-8 m inside the furnace of the furnace body 10, the length L of 5-25 m inside the furnace in the axial direction of the furnace body 10, and after making the ratio (D/L) of the maximum depth D of the molten iron 11 in the furnace body 10 charged with the cold-iron source and the length L inside the furnace in the axial direction of the furnace body 10 to be in the range of 0.1-0.4, carbon source is blown into the molten iron 11 in the furnace body 10.
