Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent inefficiency of an image forming apparatus connected to a post-processor and to easily optimize the processing efficiency of the image forming apparatus for the processing efficiency of the post-processor. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a first drive circuit 122a for driving a print engine, which executes image formation on paper, at first processing efficiency; and a second drive circuit 122b for driving the print engine at second processing efficiency lower than that by the first drive circuit 122a. During a regular operation, the print engine is driven by the first drive circuit 122a. When the processing efficiency of the post-processing performed by the post-processor is lower than the first processing efficiency, the apparatus switches to the second drive circuit 122b and drives the print engine.
