Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yellow colorant compound having a high color purity, capable of precise color control and contributable to displaying a sharp and clear full-color image, and to provide a manufacturing method suitable for the colorant compound and an elctrochromic device using the same. SOLUTION: Provided is the electrochromic device in which a pair of the electrode structures 11, 12, each of which has at least the transparent electrodes 2, 7 formed on the supporting substrate 1, 6, are arranged with the electrolyte layer 5 held between them so that the transparent electrodes 2, 7 may face to each other and in which on at least one of a pair of the transparent electrodes 2, 7, there is formed the porous electrode 4 on which the colorant compound (organic EC colorant 3) consisting of a pyridine compound of a predetermined structure is adsorbed.
