Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modulation type determination apparatus and a modulation type determination method in which a modulation type can be determined even if a received signal is distorted. SOLUTION: A modulation type determination unit generates an error reference feature amount distribution from a reference feature amount that is a feature amount in a non-distorted received signal in each modulation type and an error component that is an error estimated from the reference feature amount. Furthermore, the modulation type determination unit generates a covariant matrix from a plurality of feature amounts when actually receiving signals, calculates an eigenvector and an eigenvalue from the covariant matrix, and generates a non-signal matrix that is a matrix used for determination generated from an eigenvector other than the eigenvector corresponding to a maximum eigenvalue from the eigenvalue. Furthermore, the modulation type determination unit calculates a scalar value for each modulation type according to an evaluation expression containing an error component as a parameter from the non-signal matrix and the error reference feature amount distribution.
