Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane-electrode assembly for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell having high mechanical strength and high proton conductivity by enhancing characteristics of a solid polymer electrolyte used as a proton conductive membrane. SOLUTION: Since a solid polymer electrolyte containing a new aromatic sulfonimide-containing polyarylene substantially increases characteristics, the membrane-electrode assembly for the polymer electrolyte fuel cell using the solid polymer electrolyte as the proton conductive membrane has high mechanical strength and high proton conductivity.
