Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile cleaner capable of reducing power consumption without deteriorating a dust collection capability. SOLUTION: The mobile cleaner moves forward at fixed speed by setting a suction force changeover switch to 1 (normal suction force). When an obstacle is detected by an infrared light distance sensor 12, the cleaner moves close to the fixed distance Lir-1 from the obstacle and decelerates by setting the suction force changeover switch to 2 (middle suction force). When the cleaner moves close to the distance Lir-2, the cleaner maximally decelerates by setting the suction force changeover switch to 3 (maximum suction force). When the cleaner contacts the obstacle, the forward movement is stopped and a direction is changed. The suction force changeover switch is kept by 3 during the change in direction. When the change in direction is completed, the suction force changeover switch is set to 1. Then, the cleaner moves forward at fixed speed again. The movement is repeated in travelling. By the sequence, dust is collected by the maximum suction force in the circumference of the obstacle and by the normal suction force in a place without the obstacle. Consequently, the power consumption is reduced without deteriorating the dust collection capability. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
