Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance antivibration properties of a butyl rubber by making it possible to crosslink the butyl rubber with an organic peroxide. SOLUTION: Antivibration properties are improved by raising tanδ of a butyl rubber crosslinked article, using a modified butyl rubber composition comprising a modified butyl rubber obtained by reacting the butyl rubber with (a) a compound having a nitroxide free radical which is stable at room temperature in its molecule, (b) a radical initiator, and (c) a bi- or multi-functional radically polymerizable monomer in the presence of oxygen, or modifying by reacting the butyl rubber with (a) a compound having a nitroxide free radical which is stable at room temperature in its molecule, and (b) a radical initiator in the presence of oxygen.
