Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic shock absorber with high practicality. SOLUTION: This electromagnetic shock absorber 10 is provided with a screw rod 80 having one end part connected to a spring lower part 36 and a nut 82 rotatably held in a spring upper part 54 and screwed with the screw rod 80, and generates damping force in relation to relative moving of the spring upper part 54 and the spring lower part 36 by imparting rotational force to the nut 82 based on motor force. The shock absorber 10 is constituted to inhibit the screw rod 80 from rotating around an axis, while permitting the screw rod 80 to move in an axial direction in relation to the spring upper part, by inhibiting relative rotation of an engaging hole 84 formed to be opened on an end face at the other end part of the screw rod 80 and extended in the axial direction and an engaging rod 88 fixed to the spring upper part 54 and fitted into the engaging hole 84, while permitting relative moving of the engaging hole 84 and the engaging rod 88.
