Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently removing bromic acid and/or bromate ions from water containing bromic acid and/or bromate ions to ≤0.01 ppm, and a water treatment system for producing treated water (purified water) of a content of bromic acid and/or bromate ions of ≤0.01 ppm. SOLUTION: The method for removing bromic acid and/or bromate ions in water comprises the process of bringing water to be treated containing bromic acid and/or bromate ions into contact with coal-based activated carbon. The water treatment system comprises a bromic acid removing means where the water to be treated containing bromic acid and/or bromate ions is brought into contact with the coal-based activated carbon.
