Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor power steering system which can distribute the quantity of an applied current into two or more phases without applying a large current to a specified element, especially, a single phase. SOLUTION: A steering system is equipped with a three-phase brushless motor 12 which gives steering supplementary power for mitigating the steering burden of an operator, and it controls the drive of the above motor 12, referring to the rotating angle θ of the motor so as to generate steering supplementary power geared to at least steering torque T. At this time, it switches the phase to which a large current is applied, by rotating the motor 12 a little by offsetting the rotating angle θ of the motor used for control of steering supplementary power, when it detects the motor 12 being in a stop state and that in a high load state, whereby it distributes the load from the motor 12 to a motor driving circuit.
