Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of sensors which can be connected in a wavelength bandwidth which is no more than the wavelength bandwidth used by a conventional distribution measuring system and improve responsivity as a sensor in a fiber-optic distribution measuring system. SOLUTION: The sensor is constructed by combining a ring resonator and a fiber-optic Bragg grating or a waveguide with a waveguide Bragg grating, on which a Bragg grating is drawn. This allows a single spectrum of the order of picometers to be obtained, which is far narrower than the reflection bandwidth of a fiber-optic Bragg grating which has been used so far as a sensor, and allows a wavelength to be detected with a good SN ratio even for a slight wavelength shift by a bandpass type wavelength detector such as one using a Fabry-Perot interferometer.
