PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating blast furnace slag by which the decrease of the temperature of molten blast furnace slag is suppressed to increase the quantity of fly ash dissolved in the molten blast furnace slag and to effectively use the fly ash and an apparatus for treating the blast furnace slag. SOLUTION: The method of treating the blast furnace slag is carried out by performing injection of blowing fly ash with air, oxygen enriched air or oxygen into the molten blast furnace slag 1 stored in a container 2 to dissolve the fly ash in the molten blast furnace slag, wherein the container is covered with a hood 4 installed above the container, gaseous oxygen is supplied into the hood and CO gas produced by the injection or carbon in the fly ash is burned with the oxygen in a space between the surface of the molten blast furnace slag and the hood and the exhaust gas after the burning is sucked from the space and discharged.
