Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce access time in an optical disk where an information layer conforming to a plurality of different optical disk standards is multilayered. SOLUTION: In the optical disk where the information layer conforming to a plurality of different optical disk standards are multilayered, the type of a certain information layer is recorded on another information layer. When reading or writing using a compatible optical disk device corresponding to a plurality of optical disk standards, a tracking error signal generation method is selected based on information recorded on another information layer, thus reducing access time.
