Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, image forming device, image processing method, image processing program and recording medium with the image processing program recorded thereon in which background removal is effectively performed and a change in the color tone of a portion other than a background can be suppressed. SOLUTION: When it is judged by a background judging means 250 that the background is included, a Lab converting means 251 converts RGB data into Lab data, and a gamma correcting means 252 corrects the Lab data to reduce saturation. An RGB converting means 253 converts the gradation corrected Lab data into RGB data, and a background removing means 254 removes the background for RGB color data. The Lab converting means converts the background removed RGB data into Lab data, and the gamma correcting means 252 corrects the background removed Lab data to increase saturation.
