Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas-treating device which prevents the occurrence of deterioration of polychlorinated biphenyl-removing performance. SOLUTION: Activated carbon is used in the exhaust gas-treating device. In this case, a gas to be treated, which contains polychlorinated biphenyl, is contacted with the activated carbon to remove the polychlorinated biphenyl from the gas to be treated. The activated carbon is used to remove polychlorinated biphenyl from a gas to be treated which contains a biphenyl component having at least five chlorine atoms in the polychlorinated biphenyl, and its pore volume is at least 0.55 ml/g.
