Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer enabling an easy judgment on whether the printer is in an on-line mode ro an off-line mode. SOLUTION: This printer 1, which is equipped with a display portion 11 and an operating portion 12, does printing by switching between the on-line mode of performing printing issue on the basis of print data transmitted from a personal computer, and the off-line mode of performing printing issue on the basis of internally stored print data. The printer is provided with an operating portion 12 removably, and a connector detection circuit for determining whether the operating portion 12 is removed or not.
