Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the uniform application of a lubricant on a photoreceptor surface in an electrophotographic process. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic image forming method of forming an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor surface, the electrostatic latent image is formed on the photoreceptor surface in the state of applying the liquid lubricant (for example, a silicone oil) on the photoreceptor surface. The device for applying the liquid lubricant on the photoreceptor 11 surface contiguously attaches a porous film 22 to the external surface of a liquid lubricant holding member 21 made of non woven fabric, is provided with a brush-like roller 17a contacting of both of the porous film 22 and the photoreceptor surface, and is configured to convey and apply the liquid lubricant impregnated in the liquid lubricant holding member 21 to the photoreceptor surface via the porous film 22 by the rotation of the roller 17a.
