Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device capable of an appropriate discount corresponding to the consumption of fuel. SOLUTION: A portable telephone set 18 comprises: a device main body provided with a communication part 38 for communicating with a base station by radio and a control part 42 for controlling the communication part 38; a DMFC 10 for generating power by consuming the fuel and supplying the power to the device main body; a secondary battery 48 which can supply the power to the device main body and be charged by at least one of the DMFC 10 and an external power source; and a fuel container 22 for housing the fuel. The control part 42 calculates information relating to power consumption consumed in the device main body when communications are performed of the amount of the power generated in the DMFC 10, and the communication part 38 transmits data based on the information to the base station. Thus, the service of discounting a charge for a fuel container to be purchased later or a communication charge corresponding to the fuel consumed by the utilization of the portable telephone set 18 to be the object of charging can be provided.
