Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system which physically restrains ascent and descent as long as a door is open irrespective of its reason such as malfunction of a software program while an elevator car lands at a floor and the door is open to prevent an accident of ascent and descent with the door open causing a miserable bodily injury. SOLUTION: An elevator car is physically restrained when the door is opened, with sliding tubular bodies 7 being provided on the top of the ceiling of an elevator car 1 in the inside of the left and right side part, with locking frame bodies of steel plate being provided in the elevator shaft side near the location where the tubular part of the sliding tubular bodies and inside of the frame of the locking frame bodies of steel plate 8 are penetrated through, and with metal wedge bodies 6 which move interlocking with opening/closing of a door 2 being slide-contactingly inserted into the locking frame bodies of steel plate on the elevator shaft side and when the door is open, latching the sliding tubular bodies and the locking frame bodies of steel plate in a suspended condition. The metal wedge bodies are unlocked from the hanging condition by the closing movement of the door enabling ascent and descent. The system restrains ascent and descent when the door is open.
