Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a storage device reliably. SOLUTION: A protection device 16 for storage device is provided with an impact sensor 4, air bag devices 11, 12 which can protect an HDD 9, and a control circuit 10. The control circuit 10 predicts whether impact is likely to occur in a vehicle, when the occurrence is predicted, write/read operation for the HDD 9 is prohibited, after that, when the impact sensor detects impact, the air bag devices 11, 12 are operated and the HDD 9 is protected.
