PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cancer inhibitor containing a newly found cancer-inhibiting gene, and to provide a method for diagnosing a cancer with the cancer inhibitor gene. SOLUTION: The invention provides a cancer inhibitor containing RGC 32 gene or its homologous gene, a cancer inhibitor containing RGC 32 protein or its homologous protein, a method for diagnosing a cancer comprising a process for analyzing RGC 32 gene in a specimen with DNA or RNA containing all or a part of the RGC 32 gene, and a method for diagnosing a cancer comprising a process for analyzing RGC 32 protein in a specimen with an antibody against the RGC 32 protein or a fragment of the antibody are provided.
