Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alumina organic solvent dispersed liquid having excellent dispersion stability in various organic solvents, particularly, in alcohols, ethers, ketones and esters. SOLUTION: Metal aluminum or a hydrolyzable aluminum compound is hydrolyzed in an organic solvent with water of 4 to 10 mol times thereto, so as to be alumina slurry, and peptization is performed in the presence of organic sulfonic acid of 0.01 to 0.2 mol times to the metal aluminum or hydrolyzable aluminum compound.
