PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for evaluating the effect of a test substance on distension stimulation-mediated melanogenesis. SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for the evaluation of a distension stimulation-mediated melanogenesis controlling substance containing a step to culture a melanocyte in the presence of the test substance under the load of distension stimulation, a step to determine the quantity of produced melanine, and a step to compare the determined quantity of melanine with the quantity of melanine produced by melanocyte cultured under the load of distension stimulation in the absence of the test substance; and a method for screening a speck-formation inhibiting substance by subjecting the test substance to the evaluation method and screening the test substance as the speck-formation inhibiting substance.
